GCC Condemns Iranian Attacks on Jordan, Reaffirms Full Solidarity

RIYADH, August 31, 2026: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has condemned Iranian attacks targeting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, warning that the continuation of such assaults poses a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.

GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi said the Council categorically rejects any aggression that infringes on Jordan’s sovereignty or threatens the security and safety of its people.

GCC Voices Full Support for Jordan

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the full solidarity of the GCC member states with Jordan and stressed that the bloc stands firmly alongside the Kingdom in protecting its security, stability and territorial integrity.

The statement underscored the GCC’s rejection of attacks that could widen regional instability and further complicate efforts aimed at containing tensions.

Regional Security Concerns

The latest GCC statement comes amid renewed regional tensions and follows reports of Iranian missile attacks directed at targets in Jordan. Several Arab and Gulf countries have also issued statements condemning attacks on Jordan and expressing support for measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty and security.

Jordan has repeatedly maintained that its territory, airspace and national security must not become part of wider regional confrontations. The renewed attacks have prompted fresh calls across the region for restraint and for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

GCC Emphasises Collective Regional Security

The GCC has consistently stated that the security of its member states and neighbouring partners is interconnected, and that actions threatening the stability of one country can have wider consequences for the region.

In its August 31 statement, the Council reiterated that it stands with Jordan in confronting threats to its security and in preserving the safety of its people and the integrity of its territory.

Calls for De-escalation Continue

The condemnation comes as governments and regional organisations continue to call for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement to prevent a broader confrontation. Regional statements issued on Monday stressed the importance of avoiding steps that could expand the conflict and further undermine security and stability.

The GCC’s latest position adds to a series of regional calls for an end to attacks on sovereign states and for renewed efforts to restore stability through political and diplomatic channels.
